Introduction

From industrial automation to healthcare and service applications, intelligent robots are increasingly playing a vital role in improving efficiency, safety, and user experience.

The history of robotics began with simple electromechanical machines designed for repetitive tasks. With the evolution of microcontrollers, wireless communication, and AI algorithms, robots have progressed from rigid automation to interactive and adaptive systems. The introduction of voice recognition, sensor-based monitoring, and human–robot interaction has further expanded the scope of robotics, enabling applications in education, assistance, and smart environments.

The importance of AI-based robots lies in their ability to interact naturally with users, respond to commands, and adapt to real-world conditions. In this project, an Artificial Intelligence–based smart robot is developed using AI Thinker VC-02 and Arduino UNO. The robot operates by recognizing predefined voice queries, moving wirelessly via Bluetooth commands, and monitoring health parameters such as temperature and heart rate through sensors. The measured values are displayed on a 16×2 LCD, demonstrating a compact and practical working model that combines AI interaction, mobility, and sensing in a single robotic system.

Objectives

  • To design and develop an Artificial Intelligence–based smart robot using AI Thinker VC-02 and Arduino UNO.

  • To implement voice-based question answering for basic human–robot interaction.

  • To enable Bluetooth-controlled movement for wireless navigation of the robot.

  • To monitor body temperature using a DHT11 sensor and heart rate using a pulse sensor.

  • To display real-time sensor values on a 16×2 LCD for local monitoring.

  • To demonstrate the integration of AI, robotics, and embedded systems in a single functional prototype.

Methodology

This AI Smart Robot Project is developed using AI Thinker VC-02 voice module and Arduino UNO, designed for answering user questions, wireless movement through Bluetooth, and real-time health monitoring. The robot demonstrates intelligent human–robot interaction using voice-based question–answer functionality, making it suitable for AI and robotics learning applications.

The system monitors body temperature using a DHT11 sensor and heart rate using a pulse sensor, with all values displayed on a 16×2 LCD for instant local observation. Bluetooth connectivity enables smooth and flexible robot navigation using a mobile phone.

As an additional feature, the robot can also be used as a waiter robot for serving food in indoor environments, such as homes, restaurants, and hospitals, without changing its primary AI-based functionality.
