📘 Introduction
Soldiers deployed in battlefields, tunnels, and hazardous zones are often exposed to toxic gases and unsafe air quality, which pose serious risks to their safety. Traditional helmets provide physical protection but cannot warn against invisible threats like carbon monoxide, toxic fumes, or poor air quality.
This project introduces an IoT-Based Smart Helmet for Soldiers, designed to detect hazardous gases in real-time and immediately alert the user. The helmet integrates MQ7 and MQ135 sensors to measure carbon monoxide and air quality levels, a DHT11 sensor to monitor temperature and humidity of the environment, and an IR sensor for presence detection. The data is displayed on an LCD and uploaded to the ThingSpeak IoT cloud using an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module.
When dangerous gas levels are detected, a buzzer alarm is triggered, ensuring quick response and higher safety in hazardous missions. This makes the smart helmet a reliable wearable system for defense operations and industrial use.

📑Methodology
The IoT-based smart helmet works by integrating gas sensors (MQ7, MQ135) with an Arduino UNO that continuously monitors toxic gases like carbon monoxide and harmful air pollutants. A DHT11 sensor measures environmental temperature and humidity, while an IR sensor assists in condition detection. The data is displayed on a 16×2 LCD and simultaneously uploaded to the ThingSpeak IoT cloud via the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. When gas levels cross safe limits, the Arduino activates a buzzer alert, providing instant feedback to the soldier in hazardous areas.
