📘 Introduction
Promoting digital farming might be the answer for current challenges in the agriculture industry by employing a robot to provide continuous information of its deployed area and gives the right analysis in many aspects of farming. This project is about employing a robot as a harvesting robot. This Tomato Harvesting Robot makes detection and picking of ripe tomatoes automatic with the use of Arduino UNO, Raspberry Pi, and servo motors. 4 DC motors power the robot base via an L293D motor driver for smooth field traversal. A USB camera on a 360° servo takes pictures of the tomatoes, and the Raspberry Pi analyzes them with image recognition algorithms using python to identify ripe tomatoes. When a tomato is identified, the 3 servo motor and scissor mechanism robotic arm moves into position to cut and harvest the tomato. Voice notifications (e.g., “Tomato Detected” or “Harvesting in Process”) come via an ISD 1820 sound module with amplifier and speaker, while live system status like direction of movement, detection, and harvesting updates are shown on a 20×4 LCD. A 12V battery powers the system for mobility in farming fields. This project demonstrates the convergence of robotics, computer vision, and automation for applications in smart agriculture to minimize human labor and maximize efficiency in the harvesting of tomatoes.

Methodology
- The Tomato Harvesting Robot is designed to combine image processing with robotic automation:
- The Raspberry Pi captures live video using a USB camera and applies image recognition algorithms to identify ripe tomatoes.
- A servo-mounted 360° rotating camera ensures a wide scanning area for detection.
- Once a tomato is detected, the Pi sends a command to the Arduino Uno, which controls the robotic arm.
- The arm, driven by 3 servo motors, aligns the scissor mechanism and cuts the tomato.
- The base movement is controlled by Arduino through L293D motor driver and 4 DC motors.
- An ISD sound module with speaker provides voice alerts, while a 20×4 LCD displays system status and updates.
- The entire robot runs on a 12V rechargeable battery pack, making it suitable for field deployment.
This integration of computer vision, robotic arm automation, and audio-visual feedback makes the project an ideal solution for smart agricultural harvesting.
