- The concept revolves around capturing the kinetic energy produced by vehicles passing over roller speed breakers installed on roadways. As vehicles traverse over these specially designed speed breakers, the vertical displacement of the rollers converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy. This energy conversion process involves the integration of an electromagnetic system that harnesses the vertical motion and converts it into usable electrical power.
- The proposed energy generation system integrates piezoelectric elements into the construction of Roller Speed Breaker (RSB). When vehicles pass over the RSBs, the mechanical stress caused by the rolling motion is transferred to the embedded piezoelectric material. This mechanical stress induces a strain in the piezoelectric material, resulting in the generation of electrical energy.
