Introduction
IoT Smart Shopping Basket based on Arduino
The IoT Smart Shopping Basket is a project that aims to ease and digitalize the in-store shopping process. This basket based on Arduino employs RFID technology and wireless interface to make the shopping process highly efficient. The central element of the system is the Arduino microcontroller, which manages the different components like the RFID reader and the 20×4 LCD. Each product has a different RFID label. While products are being put into the basket, the RFID reader reads and recognizes each product. The name of the product, price, and appropriate information is retrieved from the attached database and immediately displayed on the LCD screen. In order to do away with the use of conventional checkout counters, the basket has a built-in payment system. Customers are able to make payments from within the basket, cutting billing time down considerably and escaping long queues. The basket is also Wi-Fi capable, enabling it to interface with the store server for tracking stock and generating bills in real-time. A mobile application is also available for interaction by the user, with features like viewing the cart summary, handling payments, and getting real-time updates about the availability of items. Such an interface to the app makes the basket extremely user-friendly and efficient.
