INTRODUCTION

Parking in contemporary urban areas is a significant concern. There are an excessive number of automobiles on the route and an insufficient number of parking spots. To solve this major issue a smart parking system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) which can assist users in locating parking spaces in crowded regions by offering real-time availability updates online can be developed and implemented. This technology streamlines the car parking procedure, encompassing the entire process from vehicle entry to monitoring and subsequent leave. The system utilises an Arduino as main controller, WiFI ESP8266 NodeMCU, a set of six IR sensors, and a servo motors to accurately detect the presence of cars and determine the availability of parking slots. Two infrared sensors are used to detect cars at the entry and exit gates, while four sensors are employed to detect the availability of parking slots. Servo motors operate gates by responding to sensor readings to initiate opening and closing actions. With the integration of Internet of Things (IoT), the system assists in identifying vacant parking areas in real-time and auto-parking with minimal human effort and traffic on the roadThe system provides real-time monitoring via the internet using ESP8266 NodeMCU, which offers efficient, safe, and convenient parking.

METHODOLOGY

Mount and Install the IR sensors on the Arduino microcontroller to detect vehicle presence. Calibrate sensors to be able to detect appropriately. Now IR sensors constantly monitor all parking slots. As soon as a vehicle occupies a slot, the sensor informs the Arduino. Arduino processes sensor data to determine the occupied and free parking slots. The ESP8266 NodeMCU board is utilized to connect the system to the internet, uploading parking information to a mobile application directly. The LCD display shows on-site parking slot status currently, and the mobile application provides the users with viewing access and remote control of the parking gate. After receiving a valid command from the application, the Arduino opens or closes the gate by controlling the servo motor such that permitted vehicles can enter or exit. Real-Time Monitoring: Users can have real-time monitoring of slot availability and gate access via the application installed.
